Little Miss A | Georgina Photographer

Beautiful 1 month old Audrey!

Audrey’s mother contacted me when she was just about 1 month old.  She did not realize that newborn portraits are usually booked while still pregnant, or that the best age for those curly, sleepy newborn poses is 6-10 days.

I was disheartened to hear that she had been turned away by several photographers because her baby was “too old”.  I could never turn away any family wanting beautiful photographs of their child for that reason!  I explained that it was unlikely that Audrey would sleep well enough, or be able to curl up in the newborn poses, but I would still capture some beautiful moments- even if she was awake.

Andrey was a bit fussy and unsettled for the first part of her session.  I worked at her pace, and when she finally fell into a deep sleep (surprising us all) I was able to get some amazing shots- posing nearly as well as an under-two-week-old baby.

Here are a few of the best photos from the session.

Cake Smash Session | Photography in Georgina

Harper, one of my favourite little baby planners, recently turned 1!  Next to newborn photos, turning one (and having a first taste of sugar) is one of the most important times to document!  This session, -first year portraits and cake smash- is my 3rd photoshoot with Harper this year.  I really love getting to know my little clients as they grow and change over this amazing time.  I love how I feel like I’m watching and recording how their personality is growing and changing, as I make pictures at various ages and stages.  And I love the deeper connection with my clients that comes after multiple sessions- that I think of them as friends, not just clients.

At the beginning of the studio session I will take some more formal portraits in clothing or props that the family brings, or that I have available in the studio.  If they had newborn or other milestone sessions in the past I tend to continue with the same colour pallet, or theme, sometimes using a particular prop in each session.  This repetition will help show just how much their baby has grown (in relation to the prop) as well as create a series that can be displayed together in your home!  I did this for Harper’s family with the white antique chair seen below.  To document the cake smash I created the image collage below for display on her bedroom wall.  I’ve also shown a couple more photos from the 1 year session that really show her personality.

Newborn Madison | Keswick Newborn Photography

There are so many photographs from this session that I love, I had a really hard time deciding which images to show in this post!  I met this family at their maternity session, and we quickly learned we had many mutual friends- as tends to happen in this small town.  I had an amazing time making beautiful images of their maternity, and then their newborn baby.

Their family dog was included in both sessions too, which was a first for me.   Dogs and children, have been said to be the most difficult subjects to photograph.  While animals can be a challenge (especially with newborns) these are the memories that will be most cherished as they tell the story of the family.  I will happily offer this again to families with fur babies.  The newborn image with the pup sniffing Madison’s head is so precious and I know will be forever treasured.

Sweet Baby N | Brock Newborn Photography

I was privileged to photograph this young family’s pregnancy and newborn photos.  Another fall outdoor maternity shoot- beautiful location at Ken Reid Conservation area!  It was a bit of a hike for me, but well worth the drive to meet the parents-to-be at one of their favourite places!  I brought my family and we made a day of it- hiking the short trails and board walks through the marsh.  We will definitely come back here to spend more time exploring.

fall-maternity-beaverton-ontarioA few weeks later, their sweet baby boy was born and they joined me for an in studio newborn session!  Their little guy is as cute as can be, and so small!   I was able to get some of my tiniest outfits on him.  I chose gray and blue as the colours for the session, and added some yellow to go with the colour of the acoustic guitar.  Mama played guitar and wanted her instrument to be a part of the session.  I encourage all of my clients to bring important items to the photo session that will help to tell their family’s story.  Sometimes that is a homemade blanket from grandma, an antique picnic basket, or a guitar.  I will always do my best to fit these special items into the pictures.  Enjoy a few of the images from this recent session!
