Tatum was just 11 days old when they came in for his portrait session. This session was styled to match the newborn’s nursery- that is where they planned to display the images. I love how they colours worked out- especially the splash of yellow! Yellow and gray just work so well together. Tatum’s dad is a fire fighter, so he brought in his gear to pose the baby on. This was a first for me, and I really enjoyed it (the helmet even matched the colour scheme!). When ever possible I like to use a hobby, collection or profession of the parents, and incorporate it into the session. Some examples would be firefighter, sports fan (baseball gloves and balls, team memorabilia- Toronto Maple Leafs), character collection (I’ve had some Mario brother’s figures brought in, elephants, bunnies) etc. In this way I can personalize the photos, helping to tell the story of the family, as well as the new baby. I have a great collection of hats, headbands, blankets, wooden and basket props, antiques and fabrics to create a session that is completely custom to you. We can discuss all of the options and ideas at the pre-session consultation (in person or by phone), included with all of my sessions.
Tatum is such a sweet little guy. I captured a few images of his little smirk, which mom and dad loved. They are a beautiful family aren’t they? It was such a pleasure photographing their maternity and new baby. I’m looking forward to seeing updates as Tatum grows 🙂
