When should I book a newborn session?
It's ideal to schedule your session several weeks in advance of your baby's due date. To ensure that I can give the time and special care to each of my clients, I book only a small number of portrait sessions per month.
Why is a newborn photoshoot so long?
2-3 hours is the typical amount of time I need to create your baby's pictures. Most of the posing used in my work requires that your newborn is in a deep sleep, and some babies take longer to get there than others. Feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and taking care of your newborns needs is first priority, and this results in a longer appointment.
What do I do to prepare? What should I bring?
You don't need to bring anything! If you would like to incorporate some special items from home I will include them in the photos. I have a large selection of props- blankets, baskets, wooden props, outfits, hats and headbands that I use to style your photo session based on your preferences. A detailed email will be sent prior to your scheduled appointment that outlines how to prepare for your photoshoot and what to bring for your baby.
How much does a session cost?
The total investment you make in your newborn portraits is up to you! I carry a specially curated selection of prints, heirloom albums, wall art/home decor, and digital file bundles to fit any budget.
What is included in the session fee?
The session fee is required to book your photo session. It includes your time in the photography studio and use of all props, backdrops and clothing items.
Digital files are purchased separate from the session fee. Please use the contact form to request detailed information.
Can I print my photos as large as I want?
With your digital file purchase, you may print to your heart's content (for your personal use only, no commercial or promotional use allowed). However, if printing larger than 8x10 I highly recommend printing through me and my professional lab, where you will receive exceptional picture quality with perfect colour and archival properties. I also warranty your prints against fading, colour shifts and other degradation.
Can I post my photos on Facebook?
Sure! I provide a watermarked web version of your digital photo order. Using the watermarked version online protects your images from being stolen or used without your permission. I want to make sure your privacy is protected online at all times.
What if my child is sick?
Illness is common in older babies and young children, especially in the winter months. If your child is sick, I ask that you reschedule your session to protect the photo studio environment that is shared with my smallest, most vulnerable newborn clients.
